Creative Communities Scheme

Opening 15 February 2016, closing 30 March 2016

CNZ Creative Communities Scheme delivered by Creative Waikato on behalf of Hamilton City Council.

The CNZ Creative Communities Scheme (CCS) supports and encourages local communities to create and present diverse opportunities for accessing and participating in arts activities.

Each of the 10 Districts in the Waikato region administers it's own Creative Communities Scheme funds (CCS) for art projects that take place within their specific geographical area.

The Creative Communities Scheme and Creative NZ contestable grants are one of the few funding sources that will fund individual applicants and non-registered groups.

Projects must meet one or more of the following funding criteria:

  • Broad community involvement – The project will create opportunities for local communities to engage with and participate in arts activities. Projects in places which are accessed by the broad community or projects in which a community is the active creator.
  • Diversity – The project will support the diverse arts and cultural traditions of local communities, enriching and promoting their uniqueness and cultural diversity
  • Young People – The project will enable and encourage young people (under 18 years) to engage with and actively participate in the arts. Projects with a specific target audience of up to 18 years, or work developed with or by young people.

Please note: If you have received a Quick Response Grant or Arts Grant from Creative New Zealand, you cannot receive funding from the Creative Communities Scheme for the same project.
