National Volunteer Week

Older people contribute a great amount to the Hamilton community through volunteering. It is often a way people can continue to contribute to the community, and remain fit, active and in social contact with others when they’ve retired from the workforce.

As part of National Volunteer Week in June Hamilton City Council partnered with Volunteering Waikato to profile 10  older volunteers who make an outstanding contribution in Hamilton. This is an identified action within Hamilton’s Older Persons Plan.

These volunteers have contributed in a number of fields, and as well as recognising the work they do, it is hoped their stories will inspire and encourage other older Hamiltonians to consider volunteering as well.

We hope you enjoy their profiles.
