Hamilton City Council has been developing an Integrated Catchment Management Plan (ICMP) for the Rotokauri Catchment. This ICMP provides a guide for stormwater, wastewater and water management and provides a framework to allow property development to occur in a managed way. It also ensures this management fits with long term plans for the area.
This ICMP has now been finalised, approved by Waikato Regional Council (in a technical certification capacity for stormwater), and endorsed by Hamilton City Council. It is important that water, stormwater and wastewater are planned, developed and managed in a way that supports growth, while making sure the impacts on our infrastructure networks, gullies, streams and river are understood and managed.
The ICMP provides detailed targets to inform detailed design for stormwater management within the current zoned land (Southern Area), and indications of major water, stormwater and wastewater infrastructure for the entire growth area within Hamilton.
