RITS open for consultation

The Regional Infrastructure Technical Specifications (RITS) have been released by Waikato Local Authority Shared Services (LASS) for targeted consultation.

The RITS sets standards for design and construction of public infrastructure and is intended to provide clarity and consistency for contractors, developers, and consultants in the Waikato region.

It includes standards for earthworks, transportation, water, wastewater, stormwater, landscapes, and accepted materials.

The RITS coverage area includes Hamilton, Hauraki DC, Matamata-Piako DC, Otorohanga, South Waikato DC, Waikato DC, Waipa DC, and Waitomo DC.

Once adopted, the RITS will officially supercede the Hamilton City ITS.

Hamilton City Development Manual

This Manual sets out the processes and standards that are to be followed and met whenever any development project is undertaken in Waikato, Waipa, Otorohanga and Waitomo who adopted this Manual as their own engineering standards in 2006. The Hamilton City Development Manual will be officially superceded by the RITS, once adopted

These Councils have added a rural supplement as Volume 5 to outline the variances and/or additional design standards or technical specifications for sub-divisional and contract works within these districts.

Waikato District Council have also added a Waikato-specific Addendum to Volume 5. Therefore, whenever the terms “Hamilton City Council”, “HCC’s District Plan”, or any other reference to requirements of the Hamilton City Council are referred to in this Manual, it means the requirements of the relevant district council on which the works are being carried out, unless otherwise indicated.

Any differences between volumes should be addressed to the relevant district council.
