The purpose of the Variation was to rezone approximately 89 hectares of land known as Rototuna Stage 2 (River Road North) from Future Urban to Residential Zone. This enabled the commencement of residential urban development in this area.
Council resolved at its meeting on 30 June 2004 that the rezoning would not take effect until a stormwater catchment management plan for the Te Awa O Katapaki catchment was approved.
The plan was approved by the Statutory Management Committee on 8 Dec 2005. This allowed the rezoning of Rototuna Stage 2 to take effect with no further formality.
