Rob is in his second term as a Councillor, having first been elected in 2013. He is a born-and-bred Hamiltonian, having attended Fairfield Primary School, Peachgrove Intermediate, Fairfield Intermediate and Hamilton Boys High School. He undertook tertiary study in commerce at the University of Auckland.
Rob is a chartered accountant by profession and has worked as a New Zealand partner in in the global firm PwC. He is chair of the professional conduct committee and is a member of the Waikato Law Society's standards committee.
Rob has also spent time as an investigator with Inland Revenue and has lectured at the University of Waikato and at Wintec in accounting.
His community interests and involvement include being past Chairperson of Sacred Heart Girls College, current Chairperson of Catholic Care, an advisor to the Credit Union Movement, and a member of the Waikato Kindergarten Council for many years.
Rob's particular interests while on the Council are fiscal matters, being Chairperson of the Council's Finance Committee in the last term and Deputy Chairperson in this term.
He's supportive of the Hamilton City River Plan and fast-tracking development at Hamilton Gardens, but remains concerned at the state of the central city.
He also has a role as the Council's sporting ambassador and enjoys attending football, rugby and cricket matches at the city's venues.
Rob is family-focussed, and he and he and his wife Trish have three daughters and five grandchildren. He says his parents worked hard to provide him with a good education and credits his upbringing with instilling in him a strong social conscience.
