Nominations for Hamilton City Council’s East Ward By-Election in February are now open.
Prospective candidates can download a nomination paper from the Council website via hamilton.govt.nz/byelection, or collect one from the Council’s Customer Services team, or request one by calling 0800 922 822.
Completed papers must be returned to the Council by the close of nominations at noon on Friday 22 December, with required payment and documents, although it is recommended to get them in as early as possible.
A Candidates’ Information Evening will be held at 6pm next Thursday, 30 November, meeting initially at the Council Chamber foyer. This will be an opportunity for anyone considering standing to find out more about the role of a councillor, the election process and the nature of the organisation.
The By-Election is due to the passing of Councillor Philip Yeung and will be held as a postal vote from 26 January to By-Election Day on 17 February 2018.
