Love will be in the air around Hamilton Lake in February for a special event for dogs and their owners.
On Sunday 11 February at Innes Common, Furry Valentine’s Day will be a chance to spend some quality time with your dog, have your photo taken together and take part in a mass walk around the lake.
Hamilton City Council’s Animal Education and Control Manager Susan Stanford says this family-friendly event brings together dog owners and their beloved dogs.
"We're excited to be able to bring together dogs and their owners at this fun event,” says Ms Stanford.
“For those who don’t have a dog or would like another one, there will be speed dating with the dogs we currently have for adoption who are looking for their forever home.
"This is part of our ongoing education programme and allows us to celebrate responsible dog ownership with our community."
Valentine’s photos with your dog start from 9am and are $5 with bookings essential. The event will be concluded with a mass walk around the Hamilton Lake starting at 10.30am.
There will be prizes for the best dressed love-themed dog and best trick as well as spot prizes.
All the proceeds from the day go to Hamilton Adopt a Dog and New Lives Animal rescue. The event is organised by the Council and is sponsored by Nutro, IAMS and Pedigree.
