Hamilton City Council has opened public consultation on its Draft Open Space Provision Policy.

The draft policy outlines a recommended approach to the allocation of park and reserve space as the city grows. Allocating park and reserve land for public recreation and community sports and organised events and activities is crucial to how the Council plans for expansion, and the quality of life for residents in new neighbourhoods.

The draft policy, if adopted, will act as a vital planning tool for the Council as it acquires and allocates land. It will also be an important planning mechanism for property developers.

Submissions close on 4 April.
