The river path below Waikato Museum and the lower section of the ArtsPost car park will both be closed tomorrow, Saturday 9 September, to allow for the removal of two large trees.

Arborists working on behalf of Hamilton City Council will be removing two trees: an oak specimen which is dead and a danger to path users, and a nearby elm tree which must be removed to access the oak.

A nearby liquidambar will also be extensively pruned as part of the work.

To carry out the job, a 100-ton crane will occupy the lower car park behind ArtsPost, meaning it is unavailable for people to park their vehicles. Similarly, the path below the Museum will be closed.

These measures are being taken to ensure the safety of the worksite.

The job will take all day, and river path users will need to detour via Victoria St and Grantham St.
