Work will begin soon to further improve the safety and connectivity on Baverstock Rd. With the city continuing to grow in the west, Baverstock Rd has become increasingly busier as a regular connection route for local and Waikato District communities.
Following increasing public feedback, the Council set aside $2.9M in its 2018/28 10-Year Plan for safety and connectivity improvements along the road.
We are excited to let you know work on the upgrade will start soon and will include:
- Urbanising Baverstock Rd. Meaning taking it from looking like a country road to one with kerb and channel and footpaths.
- A smoother and wider road with shared biking and pedestrian paths creating a safer speed environment.
- Improved access to the zoo which will also include a pedestrian and biking connection.
See below how the road will look once finished.
