The Council is planning to improve safety and connectivity on Baverstock Rd to support development of residential areas in Rotokauri.
We are aware as our city continues to grow in the west, Baverstock, Bagust and Brymer roads have become increasingly busy as they're a regular connection route for local and Waikato District communities. This has resulted in more traffic on the roads. Following public feedback, the Council set aside $2.9M in its 10-Year Plan for safety and connectivity improvements along Baverstock Rd.
Work is due to start this summer.
What we are planning to do?
- Urbanising Baverstock Rd. This means taking it from looking like a country road to one with kerbs and footpaths that looks like it fits within an urban setting.
- Improving safety
- smoother road, wider with a shared biking and pedestrian footpath
- creating a safer speed environment.
- Investigate options to improve the connection to Hamilton Zoo, and if possible construct these as part of Baverstock Rd. This will include pedestrian and biking access.
See the below concept design of how Baverstock Rd might look once this project is finished.
