Upgrade work to improve safety and urbanise a section of Rotokauri Rd (between 134 Rotokauri Rd and the intersection of Kourataki Rd) will start soon.
Urbanising the road means we change the look of the road from rural to urban, with footpaths, street lighting, kerb and channel – making it safer for all.
Because the road is narrow, we need to close it, so our teams can safely relocate key underground services (power cables and gas pipes). This section of Rotokauri Rd will be closed to traffic (see road closure below marked yellow) for approximately five days from early/mid-March.
While the closure is in place we recommend detours via Baverstock Rd, Brymer Rd and on to Rotokauri Rd and vice versa. There will be a temporary shared path for people on bikes and pedestrians along Rotokauri Rd away from the main work site.
Bus users will need to use the bus stop on the corner of Baverstock Rd and Rotokauri Rd. For more information visit busit.co.nz.
The full project is expected to take approximately 15 weeks to complete, and as we have more details on timings for other works we will give you further updates.
As a Council we are excited to deliver this project for the Rotokauri community which was achieved by working closely with one of the key developers in the area. It's allowed us to tie-in a key project with other development happening in the west and meant doing the work now will reduce the amount of temporary works needed in the future. It's also allowed us to bring forward a key project which was previously not planned to be delivered this year.
