To help enable the development of an attractive and sustainable community in Rotokauri, works are underway to understand how future roading networks in the area might look. This includes planning for where major roads will go as well as the provisions for public transport, walking and cycling.
Key transport routes have been identified for many years through the Rotokauri Structure Plan. As we prepare for further development we are now collecting information about the land where the roads are planned and ensuring the route is protected from development through a process called a 'designation'.
We're currently talking with key stakeholders to gather and understand their feedback on what we are proposing. We’re also looking into options to engage with the wider community.
Rotokauri is predominately undeveloped, however over the next few years we have big plans to support residential and commercial development making Rotokauri a great place to live, work, play and visit.
To support growth in the Rotokauri area, the Rotokauri Structure Plan was developed to provide a high-level indication of the likely routes for roading and the location of community facilities (Rotokauri Greenway project) which will support residential and commercial development within the area for the next 20-30 years. This project is called the Rotokauri Designation and we are currently working with the NZ Transport Agency on funding.
