0800 800 405 has been set up for those in our community struggling to get food, groceries, medication or other household items.
The service is available 7am-7pm daily and is for those facing hardship, at risk groups, people with disabilities and people without access to transport.
Call centre staff will collect information which will enable local welfare teams to prioritise the needs of individuals and whānau during the self-isolation period, and then coordinate the necessary support.
The service is intended for those facing hardship and is offered in addition to a range of other support measures provided by other agencies, particularly the Ministry of Social Development.
The freephone service was established by the Waikato Civil Defence and Emergency Management Group and supports Waikato district, Waipa and Matamata-Piako communities too.
