1. Social service funding support

Council has contributed $1M to support essential city welfare services for at-risk people based in Hamilton. This is in addition to its existing community grants of $440,000 which is available each year.

The support is targeted to direct action, non-profit organisations that supply essential food and other goods, accommodation, support for those in unsafe situations and provide services to people with disabilities. An allocation committee has been set up to overview and approve the distribution of the Council's contribution. It includes Chair of the Community Committee Mark Bunting, Deputy Chair Kesh Naidoo-Rauf and Council's Community and Social Development Manager Andy Mannering. The allocation committee is supported by Maangai Maaori Te Pora Thompson-Evans.

Community groups can apply to the Regional Fund through a single application to Trust Waikato. For more information and to find out how to apply contact Trust Waikato at info@trustwaikato.co.nz or call 0800 436 628.
