Tainui Group Holdings
Tainui Group Holdings is developing a large Inland Port in Hamilton. In addition to the freight and logistics hub, the master plan also includes the existing AgResearch and Innovation Park with supporting industrial, employment and residential development. In total, six zones will be developed over a span of up to 50 years.
It is expected that when the full plan has been implemented, Ruakura will provide between 6,000 and 12,000 full time jobs, 75 percent of which would be new to the region.
Economic analysis indicates that the development will attract $3 billion of direct investment. Completion of the Ruakura development is estimated to have the potential to increase the Gross Regional Product for the Waikato Region by $4.4 billion.
