Those goals are important factors in the development of our 2018-2028 10-Year Plan, and we have some ambitious and innovative plans for our city.
Hamilton's population is growing. Businesses are expanding. Future residential growth and development has increased as people are moving to our city because of the opportunities Hamilton provide in employment, education and lifestyle. Our domestic and international visitor numbers continue to rise due to the unique experience Hamilton and the Waikato offers, but that also means the social needs of our community are growing too.
We need to invest in housing, transport and infrastructure, but we also need to invest in social and community facilities and services that helps you, your family and your business, grow, flourish and connect. But no government, council, business, community or individual can do it alone!
Over the next 10 years we are investing in:
- New green spaces, sports fields and playgrounds
- New visitor destinations
- Enhanced educational experiences in conservation, technology and science
- Creation of connections along the river and activating our spaces
Some of our key projects are a new entranceway precinct at Hamilton Zoo to connect with Waiwhakareke Natural Heritage Park, more themed gardens at the Hamilton Gardens and future play spaces including skate, parkour, youth facilities and exercise equipment.
It's these new community facilities, programmes and services that our community needs to nurture curious minds, grow, live and play.
This is one of the biggest community capital programmes our Council and the city has seen. We are investing tens of millions into Hamilton, and that means creating a Hamilton for the people of today, and tomorrow.
It's going to take all of us working together.
We're currently looking for partners and sponsors to work with us on some key projects so they can be delivered to the standards our community expects – and to the international standard we set for ourselves.
The partnership programme focuses on partnerships that help progress the delivery of plans, services and programmes our community and ratepayers have told us is important to them. We endeavour to partner with organisations that share our dream.
Passions and motivations of organisations may differ, but we are unified in our approach, welcome collaboration and ensure we work together on how we can best achieve the dream together.
Let's make Hamilton a place for community. If you'd like to find out more about partnering with the Council, please get in touch.
