Hamilton has more than 80 playgrounds on parks across the city.
Most of these are neighbourhood playgrounds for the local community to enjoy.
There are also eight destination playgrounds in the city which offer a space for the whole family to enjoy.
During the 2019-20 financial year we will be replacing or upgrading several playgrounds across Hamilton.
Melville Park: A renewal and upgrade of the Melville skate park and playground. Keep up to date with the project here www.hamilton.govt.nz/melvilleskate
Hamilton Lake Domain: A renewal of the lower level lakeside playground area on the eastern side of the Domain, including the swings, sand play and fenced junior area. We will be talking to the community in late 2019 about what currently works well and what could be improved with this space.
Jansen Park: A basic neighbourhood playground replacement. This will likely include a small play unit, swings and see saws.
Discovery Park: A basic neighbourhood playground replacement. This will likely include a basketball half-court, swings and timber multi-play unit.
Innes Common: Located at the popular Hamilton Lake Domain, the playground will include swings, carousel, slackline and stepping logs. There will also be a parkour area, basketball court and exercise equipment.
Inuwai Street Park, Dixon Heights: We're upgrading the Inuwai Street park to create a better space for the neighbourhood. The park will include a basketball half-court, flat grassed areas and a playground with swings, slides and balance equipment. There will also be picnic areas, cycle and scooter racks and a drinking fountain.
