Hamilton City Council, Waipa District Council and Waikato District Council (the Territorial Authorities) have received Notices of Requirement from the NZ Transport Agency (the Transport Agency) and Hamilton City Council (the Requiring Authorities) to designate new land associated with the construction, operation and maintenance of the Hamilton Southern Links roading network. The Transport Agency has also served a Notice of Requirement on the Hamilton City Council to alter the existing Designation for State Highway 1 near the Cobham Drive Bridge.

The Notices of Requirement within Hamilton City are outlined below:
Alteration to Designation 81/E81
The Transport Agency as the requiring authority has lodged a Notice of Requirement pursuant to section 181 of the RMA to alter the existing State Highway 1 designation on the western and eastern approaches to the Cobham Bridge to enable widening of the bridge to four lanes.
Hamilton City Council as the requiring authority has lodged a Notice of Requirement pursuant to section 168A of the RMA to designate an arterial transportation network to and through the Peacocke Growth Area of Hamilton generally as provided for in the Peacocke Structure Plan, including a bridge crossing the Waikato River from the Hamilton Ring Road Extension.
The Transport Agency as the requiring authority has lodged a Notice of Requirement pursuant to section 168 of the RMA to designate a new state highway route at the south-western edge of Hamilton City. This includes a proposed at-grade roundabout at the intersection of Southern Links with Greenwood Street and Kahikatea Drive.
Hamilton City Council has a lodged Resource Consent application (Application Number APP127680) with Waikato Regional Council to construct bridges crossing the Waikato River at Cobham Drive and over the Mangakotukutuku Stream.
