Siggi moved from Germany to the Waikato in 1985 with her Kiwi husband and has lived in Hamilton ever since.
She is a first-term Councillor and sits on the waste minimisation, transport access and City Safe working groups.
Siggi is a qualified hospitality professional, having received a degree from a tourism institute in Salzburg in Austria. She has also worked in the health and wellbeing industry, including five years in a dental clinic, in the early childhood education sector, and has run a number of small businesses with her husband.
During her 30 years in the city Siggi has been active on various local issues and initiatives, including being a founding member of the Nawton Playcentre, championing a walkway around Hamilton Lake, and making submissions to regional and district councils and central government.
She is involved with Rotary and an international business networking group, and is a trustee of the Parents Place charitable trust, which provides support during pregnancy, childbirth and early parenting.
Siggi has a strong interest in environmental issues, including the use of pesticides and herbicides in public places, and lives in a unique eco- friendly straw-bale house built by her and her husband.
Recreationally she enjoys the natural environment through cycling and walking, and loves Hamilton's many wonderful eateries and restaurants.
Her husband works in logistics and they regularly visit their three adult children, all of whom work in tourism in Europe. Her grandfather was a mayor, and her parents and other grandfather were dentists.
