Council CEO Michael Redman today announced the appointment of Chris Allen to the role General Manager Works and Services for Council. Chris is currently Transit New Zealand Regional Manager.

The role of General Manager Works and Services provides leadership for the long-term strategic development of the city's infrastructure and ensures the provision and maintenance of core assets and services for residents of Hamilton.

Michael Redman says that given this crucial portfolio, Chris's appointment represents a fantastic addition to the senior management team and the organisation.

"I'm very pleased to be announcing Chris's appointment today. Chris has high level and extensive experience in sophisticated infrastructural development and project management. He is a long time Hamiltonian, is committed to the city and knows its issues intimately. He is highly respected and brings with him exceptional strategic and leadership skills, which are critical to be effective in the modern local government environment."

Chris says he is extremely excited about the opportunity and to work with the team at Council.

"The role of Works and Services General Manager presents a tremendous opportunity. I've been watching the progression of Hamilton City Council in recent times and have been impressed with what's occurring in terms of strategic direction, leadership and cultural change.

"The technical programmes and infrastructural development planned for the city in the coming years present complex and exciting challenges, and I'm really looking forward to coming on board to be part of their success."
