At its Council meeting on 11 April, Council resolved to give the new two lane divided road (whose working title was Rototuna Minor Arterial) the official name of Borman Road.

In the February edition of City News, the public were invited to submit suggestions for a new name for the Rototuna Minor Arterial. All suggestions were considered by Council in arriving at their decision.

General manager Works and Services Sally Davis says Council considered the entire strategic corridor when considering the choice of name.

"We received numerous suggestions from the public as to road names, which we were pleased to receive. There had clearly been a lot of thought put in to these.

"In deciding the most appropriate name for the arterial road, Council considered that the section currently under construction, being from Resolution Drive, east to Wentworth and Moonlight Drives, is the first stage in a strategic corridor that will eventually link Gordonton Road to Kay Road. At the eastern end of the corridor the road will link with the existing Borman Road, which connects Horsham Downs and Gordonton Roads.

"Council wanted to maintain consistency with the road name along the whole length of the corridor. As the new road is simply an extension of the existing Borman Road, it was decided to retain this name for the whole corridor."

Road name signage will be installed when the new road opens early next year, in time for the opening of a new primary school in the area.
