New kerbing work to prepare the street circuit for the V8 Supercars event next year gets underway this week on the Hamilton circuit.

The kerbing works are among the first taking place on the 3.4km Frankton circuit in preparation for the seven year race.

The kerbing works will take place in 3 locations - on the corner of Mill and Tristram Sts, at the corner of Tristram St and Norton Rd, and at the corner of King and High Sts.

The purpose of the works is to improve track drainage on the circuit via catchpits which feed into the stormwater system.

The work, which is expected to take 10 days (this is weather dependent) is likely to cause only minor traffic delays. Contractors will be working to ensure the least disruption possible.

The next significant works to take place following these will be

  • Mill St median – removal of existing median traffic islands and replacement with removable islands
  • Tristram and High Sts resurfacing (work to be carried out overnight to minimise disruption)
