It’s new, it’s fresh, it’s out now [Tuesday/Wednesday 30/31 January].  The refreshed new look City News has a vibrancy that reflects the heart of Hamilton’s growth and it’s coming of age as an emerging metropolitan centre.

Editor of City News Curt Christiansen says the new look of City News is in line with the new Hamilton brand.

“City News is a very successful publication. Since it’s launch in 1979 residents have continued to rate it higher year upon year. Last year it got a rating of 79.0 csi (Customer Satisfaction Index) – very good service. It is a key component of Council’s communication mix with over 63,000 copies printed 11 times a year, delivery is free and includes every residential address and PO Box in the city and surrounding rural delivery areas.

“The new Hamilton brand expresses Council’s vision of Vibrant Hamilton. We are fulfilling the vision through icon events, such as the V8 Supercar Streetrace and building a strong web presence – visits to the portal have gone through the roof and there is the recently launched providing information for potential visitors and meeting planners. City News primarily helps us reach residents and secondly position the city to visitors.”

The new look contains a completely revised events listing. Now known as Whats On Hamilton the four page events listing is sectioned into interest areas, including: Events and Festivals, Sport and Leisure, Music, Theatre and Dance, Visual Arts, etc. The colour coded sections are very easy to navigate around. The listing is drawn from the website which will also be revised in line with printed format.

Among its objectives City News aims to reflect the positive achievements and success stories of the city, be a direct channel of communication between Council and residents and improve public understanding of Council's role in the development of the city.
