It’s the final call for scarecrows!

The Friends of Hamilton Gardens will host A Gathering of Scarecrows  on Sunday, 29 October at Hamilton Gardens and the group is calling for budding creators to enter their efforts.

The event will showcase scarecrows designed by local children, groups and families. This year the new Sustainable category allows children’s imaginations to go wild with natural material – the final result must be compostable.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the Hamilton Gardens’ website and scarecrows can be delivered to the Gardens between Wednesday, 25 October and Friday, 27 October 2017.

The annual event aims to create awareness of Hamilton Gardens’ productive gardens including the Kitchen Garden, Herb Garden and the Sustainable Backyard. Gardeners will be available throughout the day to give advice on vegetable rotation, permaculture and how to create a sustainable backyard garden.

Throughout the day there will be children’s activities including the Scarecrow Trail, face painting, chalk drawing, sunflower planting and various food stalls.

The public can vote for their favourite scarecrow until prize giving at 2pm.

When: Sunday 29  October 2017

Open 11am to 3pm. Prize giving at 2pm.

Free entry.
